Pokémon GO: Everything a Trainer needs to know about Items

Trainers, there are more Items than ever within Pokémon GO, but don’t worry!  We have everything a Trainer would need to know about the Items that go in your bag!

Whether you are a Trainer that constantly keeps your bag full of Items, or a Trainer that is constantly in need of them, we all know how valuable Items are within Pokémon GO.  There are many different Items and they can be obtained ways.

Let’s first start out with the Items that will assist you in catching Pokémon:

Poké Ball

A Poké Ball is a basic device used to capture Pokémon.  The Poké Ball can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Purchasing from the Shop
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Great Ball

A Great Ball is a high-performance device with a higher catch rate than a basic Poké Ball.  The Great Ball can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Ultra Ball

A Ulta Ball is an ultra-performance device with a higher catch rate than a Great Ball.  The Ultra Ball can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Premier Ball

A Premier Ball is provided to a Trainer to use in order to catch Pokémon that were defeated in Raid Battles.  It is a premier-performance device with a higher catch rate than an Ultra Ball.  The Premier Ball can only be obtained following the successful completion of a Raid Battle and it is not something that gets stored in the bag.

Razz Berry

A Razz Berry can be fed to a Pokémon to increase the catch rate prior to throwing a ball.  It can also be provided to Pokémon that are defending Gyms to increase their health.  The Razz Berry can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Pinap Berry

A Pinap Berry can be fed to a Pokémon to double the amount of Candy received following a successful capture.  It can also be provided to Pokémon that are defending Gyms to increase their health.  The Pinap Berry can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Nanab Berry

A Nanab Berry can be fed to a Pokémon to prevent it from moving following the encounter.  It can also be provided to Pokémon that are defending Gyms to increase their health.  The Nanab Berry can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks
  • Leveling-up reward
  • Opening Gifts from friends
  • Spinning a PokéStop or Gym

Silver Pinap Berry

A Silver Pinap Berry can be fed to a Pokémon to double the amount of Candy received following a successful capture.  The Silver Pinap Berry is superior to the Pinap Berry in helping make a successful capture easier to complete.  The Silver Pinap Berry can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing Field Research tasks

Golden Razz Berry

A Golden Razz Berry can be fed to a Pokémon to increase the catch rate prior to throwing a ball.  The Golden Razz Berry is superior to the Razz Berry in helping make a successful capture easier to complete.  The Golden Razz Berry can be obtained in the following ways:

  • Completing a Raid Battle

Some of the items above can be obtained in special boxes in the Shop for limited amounts of time.  For example, there was a special limited time “Ultra Box” that contained Ultra Balls and Pinap Berries that are not normally available for purchase in the Shop.
