Pokémon: Twilight Wings to be released in January

Pokémon has officially announced a new short animated series called Pokémon: Twilight Wings.

Several years ago Pokémon created a short animated series titled Pokémon Generations. On December 12, 2019 the company announced a similar series to be released January 2020 titled Pokémon: Twilight Wings.

While little has been officially announced thus far we know that this 7 episode series will take place in the new Galar region. It will focus on the residents of the region. We will likely see many of the new Pokémon from the region and potentially the Galarian forms of the Pokémon from previous generations.

Because of Pokémon: Sword and Shield we are already familiar with the customs and culture of the region and have had at least a glimpse at some of the potential characters of this new short series such as Leon, Professor Magnolia, and Sonia.

It’s unclear if this series will run alongside the main series, or have nothing to do with it. It also leaves us wondering whether or not we’ll see Gigantimax and Dynamax Pokémon here as well. As a community, we’d love to learn more about these creatures, and even though the main series is stepping into that territory, we’d love to see Twilight Wings take that on as well.

So far, no one knows when this series takes place in connection with Sword and Shield or if there will be any connection aside from being in the same region.

What we do know is that this new short series will release on the Pokémon official YouTube channel with the current release date of Jan. 15, 2020. We also know that Pokémon will be teaming up with Studio Colorido, a Japanese animation company, for this project.

New information is likely to drop soon, so we’ll keep you all in the loop! Until then, look forward to January 15, 2020.
