Make the most of the Legendary Raids this weekend with our Pokémon GO Articuno Raid Guide.
Pokémon GO Tour Kanto is just around the corner, and while it’s a great ticketed event, there are still lots to do if you don’t want to spend any money. One of the highlights of the free-to-play friendly events is the return of the original Legendary Birds to Raids.
Articuno Raid Guide: Pokémon GO Tour Kanto
Pokémon GO Tour Kanto will run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on February 20. During this time, you’ll be able to battle the Legendary Birds Articuno, Moltres and Zapdos in Legendary Raids.
The best part? The birds caught during the event will know their Legacy Moves. These powerful moves became available after Niantic’s numerous balance updates. Often, a Legacy Move will make a good Pokémon great or amazing.
Pokémon GO Articuno Counters
Articuno is a dual Ice and Flying type Pokémon. It’s weak to Rock, Fire, Steel and Electric attacks. Since both Ice and Flying are weak to Rock, Articuno is double weak to it. A strong Rock type attacker like Rhyperior or Tyranitar will make short work of Articuno.
I’m not entirely sure if this weekend’s Raid Articuno can use its Legacy Move Hurricane in the battle, but you’ll still want to watch out if you have one of the popular dual Fire and Fighting types like Blaziken or Infernape.
Pokémon GO Hurricane
Articuno’s Legacy Move is Hurricane, and is the only Flying Type move Articuno can learn. This lets Articuno another great STAB (Same Type Attack Boost) move to hit enemies that would resist Ice. It’s not as useful as a type-covering utility move, but it does give a big boost to Articuno’s damage output that makes it a more compelling choice compared to other good Ice type Pokémon.
